WHO
WE ARE
We
are a group of enthusiasts who aim to organise and support
a variety of events throughout the year which, we hope,
will appeal to anyone interested in horse racing. Throughout
the year we make a number of contributions to racing
charities.
WHAT
WE DO
Our Club meetings are normally held on the 3rd Wednesday
of the month, where a wide range of guest speakers
are invited to express their views and opinions on
all aspects of horse racing and horse welfare.
Whenever possible we also organise
visits to stables and stud farms at weekends throughout
the year.
Guests are invited
to talk about many aspects of the sport of racing and
its associated industry. During the 2009-2010 National
Hunt Season we had as guests Stan Mellor, Andrew Thornton,
Sam Thomas, Kim Bailey, Martin Julian, Martin Keighley
among others. The ‘flagship’ Cheltenham
Festival Preview Evening saw us guided and entertained
by our Vice President Alan Lee (The Times), along with,
Mick Fitzgerald, Lee Mottershead, Tom Scudamore, Carl
Llewelyn, Paul Nolan and Derek Thompson. Our events
page will show that this autumn we have an equally high
profile guest list. Out and about we arranged visits
to Tim Vaughan, Venetia Williams and Rachel and Andy
Hobbs.
