WHO
WE ARE
We
are a group of enthusiasts who aim to organise and support
a variety of events throughout the year which, we hope,
will appeal to anyone interested in horse racing. Throughout
the year we make a number of contributions to racing
charities.
WHAT
WE DO
Our Club meetings are normally held on the 3rd Wednesday
of the month, where a wide range of guest speakers
are invited to express their views and opinions on
all aspects of horse racing and horse welfare.
Guests are invited
to talk about many aspects of the sport of racing
and its associated industry.
During 2008 our speakers have included journalists
Nick Luck, Brough Scott, Sean Magee, local trainers
Richard Lee, Dr Richard Newland, Shaun Lycett, top
jockey Richard Johnson, Anthony Bromley of Highflyer
Bloodstock, Matthew Mitchell, Head of Bloodstock at
Brightwells, Andrew Gibson of Patterns and Profiles,
Paul Jacobs of Radio Merseyside and Easy Odds plus
C4’s Mike Cattermole, who hosted our Official
Festival Preview in March with Alan King, Mick Fitzgerald
and Tom Segal amongst the panellists.
Whenever possible we also organise
visits to stables and stud farms at weekends throughout
the year.
